We believe Betsey Johnson was the perfect pick to design the pink palace that is the Eloise suite at The newly re-opened Plaza Hotel. The landmark might not know what hit 'em as the room is decked out in signature Betsey items - multiple pink floral prints, zebra carpeting & of course a neon sign that reads, "Eloise" over the lush bed. Most little girls can only dream as a night does not come cheap, although they do throw in a monogramed bathrobe, giftcard to the Eloise shop & a framed picture taken inside the suite. Betsey (who is a grandmother!)& her "never grow up" asthetic makes a perfect partnership for this fun project. Can you imagine having her as your grandmother?! One special Elementary school client has requested we design a budget friendly room full of personality around this DwellStudio comforter. This sophisticated pattern couldn't be picked by just anyone - it's definitely the find of a talented eye so we've got our work cut out for us!

In order to style this strong pattern into a "clean mix", we are turning to a trend which has stormed the fashion world: "pattern mixing".

Enjoy their recipe for Pregnancy Trail Mix!

Pregnancy Trail Mix
Makes 4 cups

100g almonds
50g walnuts
50g pecans
50g sunflower seeds
100g raisins
100g dried cranberries
50g Carob rice cakes, roughly chopped

Cook nuts and sunflower seeds in a frying pan over medium heat until golden. Place all ingredients in a bowl & mix to combine.

We get all warm & fuzzy this time of year, after all it was only a few years ago we were planning a very big, life-changing event with celebrations in two wonderful cities: Key West & New Orleans. While strolling the streets for inspiration, we fell in love with the beautifully traditional porches, all with a common thread: blue painted ceilings. Memories came pouring back after seeing the Apartment Therapy post today on this phenomenon. Some believe the color wards off evil spirits, while others belive it keeps pesky bugs at bay. Whatever the reason, we love it not only for porches but for living rooms, kitchens & kids rooms. Enjoy the view!

The New York based team are the parents to 7 children (yes 7!!); running their business & raising their family in busy Manhattan. They take on very courageous projects and their results are nothing short of jaw-dropping. We've noticed a few "go-to" items that help give their rooms that "Sixx" edge...

HousingWORKS...

Our Sunday usually starts out with coffee & a quick browse through one of the many Housing Works Thrift Stores in NYC. Whether client shopping, gathering inspiration on our next bundle or looking for a little something for ourselves - this is the BEST place to look for the unexpected. The clothing, shoes, furniture, housewares & artwork in their store or online shop have been donated by locals, designers & collectors for a very good cause (read more on their services here), so there is definitely NO buyer's remorse.

Last week was their benefit of all benefits, called Design on a Dime, which gave 50 of the city's top interior designers the chance to scour the Housing Works Warehouse & create room vignettes where all items would be for sale to the public. While browsing through this year's displays we were astounded by the talent and use of materials! Of course we love to find creative touches that can translate to family living and kid-friendly DIY... Well, we found it!

Designer Asler Valero got busy with a package of paper plates & a stapler to create this unusual light fixture. Paper plate projects are reminiscent of the fun, crafty learning we all did in Kindergarten. Need a cool focal point for a room or a centerpiece for a party?... you might not need to look much further than aisle 7 at your local grocery.

Happy Mother's Day to my amazing Mom. Thank you for everything you have done to support my every dream in life and making me feel special on all my DAYS. One of my oldest & most special memories with you is going to the store each year as my birthday approached to pick out MY cake! We'd pour over the bakery's picture filled menu and the final selection (Tea Party, Barbie, Outdoor) would be the inspiration for some very creative parties.

Mother's Day is right around the corner & we are already getting sentimental! Apparently so are some of our Mommy clients who have mentioned to us numerous times that it was a very sad day when they had to cover up their much loved nursery murals to prepare for a move or finally give-in to a "growing up" redo. Unfortunately, there's no way to stop kiddos from growing but we spotted this creative way to keep murals in the family & ready to pass on to future generations. An antique or flea market headboard & footboard can be the perfect canvas for an artist or talented relative to create whimsical scenes such as this captivating treasure map, ready to enlighten and amuse little imaginations before bedtime. When the day finally comes, these pieces can be easily disconnected from a standard bedframe & stored away for safe keeping.

As we've mentioned many times, it always pays off to keep magazine tears & image files of interiors, landscapes & color stories for use in future projects. Besides having an automatic jumping-off point, the inspirations help to curb that "Where do we start???" anxiety.

We recently tackled a BIG move & were delighted to finally put some of our archives to use in our new digs. We are always preaching that family living can be surrounded by high-end design as long as you've got a little smarts... Here is what we did to ensure our dream decor doesn't get that "lived in" look quite so fast. (Pardon the dark pictures, it was 6:00am!)

A beautiful rug hung as a grand focal point in House Beautiful.

Our splurge from a trip to Turkey didn't have a fighting chance on the floor and hangs in a much safer place away from dust bunnies, foot traffic & food spills.

A gorgeous breakfast nook complete with upholstered banquet in Elle Decor.

Our "renter's" version made with a fade & stain resistant fabric, perfect for use around messy guests & family members (of course we would NEVER spill on our own furniture :) .

This very well planned & well edited closet/changing station featured on Ohdeedoh has gotten our minds in gear for some spring cleaning! It's hard to stay indoors with our sleeves rolled up after the sun has finally warmed NYC and the blooms are in full effect. However, it is the perfect time to be re-inspired and re-look at stacks of magazines, books and inspiring tear sheets from previous creative bursts! (More on our own creative bursts later in the week). We admire how this clever homeowner has personalized common organizing tools from somewhere like The Container Store or Ikea work in their design favor by inserting a lovely pattern which pleases the eye & helps keep items tidy & tucked away.

We love to visit high-end design shops, shows & spaces in hopes to find even the tiniest detail that can be incorporated into kid-friendly spaces. As promised, here is our favorite "take home to the family" idea straight from the aisles of the Architectural Digest Home Show in NYC last month.

Mudd Wall is a creative concept in storage, organization & life in general that also supports our love of environmentally responsible, small living. This one wall piece replaces huge mud rooms seen in McMansions everywhere. We all need an efficient "landing zone" for everyday necessities and these quality milled pieces made in Upstate New York are just the ticket for many areas of your home, even a child's room or playroom. Earth Day is officially around the corner (April 22nd!), and in preparation we want to showcase cutting edge "green" design being used to stimulate little minds in Lower Manhattan. The newest branch of the New York Public Library was recently opened in Battery Park City, an area chock-full of budding families and it couldn't be more earth & kid friendly. Sustainable materials and recycled elements await members throughout reading nooks & computer crannies.

Some of the floors were made from wood left over from window frame manufacturing, the stairs were created from stone & recycled mirrors.

Busy busy busy...

Our apologies for the radio silence as we have been overwhelmed with work (a very good problem to have!); although we probably can't quite compare our busy schedule to the daily agenda at this full house. Take a look at this cleverly designed home to three boys and their creative parents in Seattle featured on Sunset.com; it oozes realized potential in a small space. There is definitely something to say about living "small" these days!

This is definitely not a hands-off/special occasion only dining room. Notice the brightly colored & well designed high chair pushed up to the table just like the rest of the chairs & the salvaged wood dining table (from an old bowling lane) & the former school house chalk board.

This is the first "one bathroom" house we wouldn't mind sharing with a bunch of kiddos. The splash of color is spot on: playful enough for children & sophisticated enough for adults and guests.

An area off the kitchen was transformed into a makeshift mud room with buckets, bins & bleachers?? Yes, that's right - the shelves & bench are salvaged bleacher rows.

The Oscars are just around the corner and this week has launched some noteworthy new TV shows. We are falling hard for NBC's Parenthood; a stellar cast, relatable plot line & superb set design. The Berkeley based family is surrounded by the California Craftsman architecture and is shot with such attention to detail, we were in TV & Design Land heaven. This show is definitely worth Tivo-ing for some rewinding & pausing to take in great scenes.

We were again re-acquainted with the Frank Lloyd Wright movement when we spotted Kalon Studios new collection. Made in the USA, these pieces follow the definition of the Craftsman style: " incorporating clean lines, sturdy structure, natural materials, and always has an emphasis on the originality of the artist/craftsman". Find Kalon's timeless pieces in our store and enjoy this fun fact:

John Lloyd Wright, son of the famous architect invented Lincoln Logs in 1918! We so love to connect history (especially family history) to the interiors we work on, even in the tiniest details. Ahhh inspiration!

We are enjoying a touch of spring-like weather in NYC this week with sunny skies & milder temps. A perfect compliment to our mood is the recent trend resurgence of florals. Everyone is taking note of the rage which is back in full swing and popping up everwhere from fashion to home decor & art. As if right on cue we were introduced to the lovely, new collection of blocked-printed floral wallpapers by Farrow & Ball, the Chelsea Papers, which were inspired by 19th century, pure silk woven jacquard fabrics - absolutely enchanting! We are fresh off our tour through the New York Gift Show and have a few things to report. Among the many new launches of children's home decor collections (i.e. Jonathan Adler Junior & Oly), we left feeling warm & fuzzy over Working Class Studio. WCS is not specifically for kids but their creative home accessories radiate a playful, youthful vibe and are part of a "mentoring" business model that gives future design moguls their first shot. As a division of SCAD (Savannah College of Art & Design), the studio is a product development venture that cultivates & promotes the work of it's students, alumni & faculty. Read up on Working Class Studio's original designs, and be sure and visit the wonderful town of Savannah if you ever get the chance (which was part of our inspiring road trip over the holidays). The area close to SCAD and it's namesake ShopSCAD has a creative energy that definitely feeds your spirit and when more than your spirit needs feeding head to the Gryphon Tea Room (housed in an ancient former pharmacy) and chat with your student waiter about off the beaten path shopping & sight-seeing.

Want to expose your little one to inventive foodie delights but worry about dragging them to stuffy restaurants? You are in luck (& so were we!); on our last inspiration trip to Los Angeles where we participated in the newest gourmet phenomenon - food trucks! This trend is spreading like wild fire and as we witnessed the casual ordering & pick-up window with first-come seating is perfect for introducing your child to unique flavors and worldly dishes (& if they spit it out.. not to worry, most dishes are under $10). Foodies, families & first-timers all waited patiently (waits can reach up to 1 hour) for an alfresco lunch made by the Kogi truck serving Korean/Mexican fusion cuisine (Asian sparerib burritos & kimchi quesidillas); which might I add... were heavenly!

In a moment of in-decision we turned to the man behind us & asked if there was something he recommended, his response was "Everything!" as he lifted his sleeve to reveal a tattoo of the Kogi logo (he was a HUGE fan). Adding to the fun of eating the haute-cuisine picnic-style is actually tracking down the elusive trucks. Kids will squeal with delight as you seek Twitter updates to find out where they are parked ("scavenger hunt" style) and if there are any unlisted specialty menu items to sample once you arrive!

This DIY wall grid system can be easily constructed around the storage bins of your choosing using materials from your local building supply store. This is also a perfect design for smaller rooms where square footage for furniture is at a premium.

It's hard to imagine during this very chilly time of year that warmth will soon be back with Spring! Just like the Seasons, styles have a way of revisiting us in new & refreshed forms. We've whole-heartedly welcomed back wallpaper and all of it's innovative and funky reincarnations. While buried in a pile of presents needing wrapping we realized just like wallpaper swathes a room in a certain tone, gift wrap does the same depending on the color, style and texture of a pattern.

In this month's Martha Stewart Living, a basement renovation project inspired us to take a closer look at projectors. Empty Nesters...

Did you see the most recent New York Times Style Magazine? It's theme, "Just My Size - Design that Bridges the Generation Gap" was a nod to high-end, mostly modern design relating to children. One of the most interesting articles was called "Empty Nest Syndrome" about kids growing up in uber-minimalist designed homes - uber to the extent that one teen was only allowed to have a pencil holder and tissue box on her desk. Very little of the kids interviewed objected to this way of living; one quoted as saying, "No other house anywhere had 100 feet of pure sock-sliding potential," and another agreeing that "... the longer you stare at the white walls, the more worlds and ideas are revealed."

Whether we agree or not, it's an interesting concept that these stark environments actually stimulate imaginations, creativity during play and spur self-expression in other areas such as dress.

Two names associated with uber high-end home decor have teamed up to bring good design to the masses! Istdibs.com and Architectural Digest have partnered to create ShopAD, an online catalog of some of the most recognizable names in Furniture, Lighting, Textiles, Wallcoverings and much more. Finally we get a peek inside the usually "closed to the public" doors of Design Centers around the country, and we have definitely been missing out!

The textile section is definitely worth a browse, with easy to navigate categories such as Ethnic/Ikats, Green/Sustainable, Textures, Prints and our personal fav...Juvenile (a very impressive collection we might add!). Be sure to check out their growing assortment online.

We are ecstatic about some of the latest entries to the Small Kids, Big Color contest on Ohdeedoh... one of our very favorite places to scroll through each morning with our cup of coffee. This room for a baby on the way in California has a homespun feel but remains uncluttered & cheerful. Our favorite element is the natural branch mounted on the wall holding fabric birds.

This reminded us of an art installation we spotted at the Crow Collection of Asian Art in Dallas which had origami cranes hanging from every inch of a hallway ceiling with fishing line. We immediately envisioned something similar for a children's room or nursery and later thought it would be a nice jesture to have friends help fold the decorative paper birds during pre-baby festivites such as a shower. Pre-cut sqares of paper with fun motifs can be used to decorate place settings, then guests can scribble special wishes to the little one on one side before folding; making a cherished statement piece made entirely by your closest friends & family.

We are in complete & total envy of this big kids craft space seen on Cottage Living's website. A small area of an adult office is transformed into an inspiring area to cut, paste & create to heart's content. Inexpensive shelving with bins of paint, ribbon, fabrics and wrapping paper sit next to found objects like clothes tags, photos and magazine tears - all ready and waiting to become part of a masterpiece. Hive Modern is a great source for one of our biggest design obsessions - CHAIRS! Many varieties for children are amoung their well-edited mix including the Joe Lounge Chair. Made in the USA this is a re-issue by Heller, inspired by the 1970s original made completely of leather. Now made from roto-molded plastic this signature piece can be used indoors as well as outdoors; perfect for a bedroom, playroom or backyard space (imagine this as on-deck seating next to your very own baseball diamond!). Yes, a bit pricey at $1,000 but shipping is free which makes us even bigger fans!

A few weeks ago we participated in the ASID sponsored Soho Design Walk in New York visiting some spectacular showrooms that opened their doors on a very dreary October day. We were immediately energized as we walked into the cheery ducduc showroom full of happy, bright colors - ranging from the classics to funky with an edge. There is a full range of custom finishes for each piece that are strikingly inventive and we could hardly contain our excitement over their sophisticated, homespun Mason Gray collection. The beauty is truly in the detailing and our admiration peaked as we caught a glimpse of designers busily creating in the next room, learned everything is created in a small town in nearby CT, and settled into a comfy rocker with a sweet treat from Balthazar bakery.

The nip in the air is reminding us that Halloween is only a few short weeks away! Preparing for this very festive occasion sometimes leads to hours of sticky, fuzzy, gooey and complicated projects (i.e. costumes and sticky treats). If this is the case, may we suggest an alternative to carving a pumpkin... paint it gold! We spotted this style at John Derian's flagship store in Manhattan and loved the sophisticated fall feeling it left with us. Home building trends are more focused on maximizing the potential of smaller spaces to reduce the use of energy, materials and of course save a few pennies. Attic space can be valuable real estate so when expanding into this usually wasted space consider the design below we found on Coastal Living's website. Better Homes & Gardens has wonderful online photo galleries we click through daily to our hearts content. This image of a great contemporary kitchen was just waiting to be uncovered and has a stylish palette that could truly be the start to our next big project (which we should be able to announce in the next 3 months! - exciting!).

The typical contemporary black & white is warmed up with the addition of a periwinkle blue/olive pattern next to accents of gray and light wood tones and is a great palette for a unisex room. The cherry on top isn't cherry at all - it's orange! The energizing pop of orange on the stand mixer gives us the perfect opportunity to introduce some must-have orange accessories by a company we've been admiring lately. Creating, preparing and launching the influential publication is similar to designing a room - it can't be judged until the sum of it's parts are brought together for a striking and hopefully chic culmination.

Jonathan Adler has added some interesting characters to his quirky Utopia pottery collection. Coupled-up figures such as Captain/Stewardess, King/Queen, Boy/Girl look as if they were children's storybook illustrations that have literally marched right off the page. We would love to see the King & Queen vases be regally displayed in a modern nursery similar to the one below found on Better Homes & Gardens website as book ends, with the Lord and Lady mugs also holding court on a shelf or sidetable as vases or catch-alls. All hail imagination & creativity!

If you enjoyed our last post on fabricing walls and want to take this project to the next level, we suggest an elegant canopy to match. A very easy way to acheive the designer look above is to use two well designed, tailored bedskirts (we loved the toile below from Pottery Barn); using one in the typical fashion and attaching the other directly above. When affixing the second skirt to the ceiling a nail or tack with a finished or decorative head (i.e. nail head trim) work best. When fabricing walls, one has the option of taking a bold stance in terms of pattern (like some of our inspirations above by Steven Gambrel & Jonathan Adler respectively), but not to worry! What everyone might not realize is that when you are tired of looking at that chinoiserie you were once so fond of, it can easily be taken down, washed and returned to good-as-new fabric to be used for anything on your project list (lightweight materials such as cottons, ginghams, & chintzes work best). It is a great solution for anyone not staying in the same place for too long as it makes little or no imprint on walls and you can roll it up and move on when you're ready. Oh yea, did we mention the sound-reducing characteristics of fabriced walls?... perfect for small people with BIG voices!

For instant style with reusable possibilites follow these easy steps to try this technique in your own home:

You will need:

Starch OR Craft Stiffener
Fabric
Paint roller & Pan

Get Started:

Wash the wall to remove any dirt or ick.
Measure the distance from the floor to the ceiling and adding a few extra inches.
Cut the fabric according to your measurements. Be sure to line up any design/seams before cutting the next panel similar to using wallpaper.
Pour starch into a pan and apply to the top half of the wall with paint roller.
Smooth fabric into place at the top of the wall, leaving about one inch to be trimmed later. Use push pins to hold the fabric temporarily in place.
Apply more starch going down the wall as needed until you get to the floor, leaving about an inch overlap at the baseboard.
Apply starch to the top of the fabric, brushing and smoothing the fabric in place to remove bubbles and wrinkles. Be sure the starch penetrates the fabric evenly.
Position the second panel to match the design along the edge. Repeat steps.
Around windows and doors, leave a one inch overlap as with the ceiling and floor.
Fabric overlap should be cut when the fabric is completely dry. It will then cut clean and easily and any shrinkage will have occurred before you trim.

When you are ready for a Change:

Peel one corner loose, then gently begin to peel the fabric off of the wall panel by panel. If the fabric does not peel easily, dampen the fabric with water using a wet sponge and it should come right off.

If you've been flipping through the channels lately, you most likely have caught part of the what seems like an endless marathon of Tori Spelling & her fast-growing family's reality show, Tori & Dean: Home Sweet Hollywood. Multiple shows have revolved around their multiple moves, renovations & re-decorations (amongst other drama!). We wanted a closer look at the adorable (almost over the top) nurseries of her little "Monkey" & "Buggy" as they are lovingly referred to on the show. Her daughter Stella's eye-popping pink motif was styled for a "vintage boudoir Parisian girlie chic" feel and her son Liam's room is full of earthy-pop animal detailing. These designs exude a fun, young and hip ambiance which fits this family to a tee. We will definitely be tuning in next season to see how much these tykes have grown and how their digs are revamped for the next stages in life!

Part of our mission statement is hunting, gathering and bundling all things creative and cool, and this definitely encompasses the the wonderful world of food! Eating at restaurants as well as cooking at home for children has evolved over the years; case in point, the many strollers parked outside trendy eateries in neighborhoods everywhere. Exposing children to creativity, adventure and inventiveness is a passion we share with authors Hugh Garvey and Matthew Yeomans of the newly released Gastrokid cookbook. Their collection of recipes provide speedy, simple renditions of foodie favorites that are kid-tested, healthful, organic and sustainable. Their own families were the lucky test audience for recipes such as: Grilled Corn Salad, Cauliflower Puree, Tuscan Steak for Toddlers and our favorite: Gnudi (inspired by a bundle favorite, The Spotted Pig restaurant in NYC). Debuting this weekend is the highly anticipated movie, Julie & Julia, intertwining two great memoirs on some very strong women. One of these best-sellers started simply as a goal-oriented blog project with a curiosity of food posted during a young woman's crossroad in life. This movie gives accolades to the power of blogging - sharing passions, pains and everything in between with the world.

We have loved getting our business up and running while blogging about the amazing finds we come across during our design research. For those of you who don't spend as much time in Home Depot as we do, here's something that might interest your little (or big) co-eds. Glidden & Home Depot have paired up to create Team Colors, a collection of paints representing every one's favorite teams from Nascar, NFL, NHL, Soccer, even Colleges! Use the "team finder" link on the website to find official shades, paint a virtual room & view rooms of fellow fans. Something else to cheer about: these paints are chip/scuff resistant, stain resistant, highly scrubbable and have a lifetime guarantee.

If you or your teammate need some pointers, here is their 4 step game plan for the perfect paint job:

PREPARE THE PLAYING SURFACE:
Spackle holes or cracks
Make sure surface is free of flaking paint, oil, grease or dirt.
Prime with an appropriate GLIDDEN® Evermore™ primer for your project.

USE THE RIGHT EQUIPMENT
Use a 1/4"or 3/8" nap roller and a nylon or polyester brush/paint pad.

LET THE GAMES BEGIN
Stir Glidden® Evermore™ paint thoroughly.
"Cut in" 3" to 4" border around edges, doors and window frames.
Use roller to fill in walls with even strokes, going in the same direction.
Paint woodwork last, using even strokes.

THE WRAP UP
Easily clean up hands and tools with warm, soapy water.
Clean any spills right away with damp cloth.

Picking out a crib marks a meaningful time for expecting parents. After all, many of nights in the near future will be spent with your baby around this comforting and protective piece of furniture. So when your little one outgrows this heirloom, don't ditch it in your attic. While shopping for your crib, pick one with a removeable gate (or with a toddler bed conversion option) to create a stylish daybed to use in any room in the house. Daybeds have become the rage in boutique hotels and chic lounges. We always mention products on this blog by our favorite tastemakers, Serena & Lily, but today our sights were on their expert catalog styling. The Moroccan Key pattern painted on the back wall of this catalog excerpt is a great DIY project for anyone looking for a unique alternative to a typical wall mural. Stencils of your favorite motif (i.e. paisley, flower, animal) can easily be cut from large pieces of cardstock found at any craft store. Tone on tone paint colors look very sophisticated or up the playfulness by using two bright coordinating colors.

In this month's House Beautiful we loved the bright profile of outdoor rugs by high-end retailers such as Williams-Sonoma Home and Vera Bradley. They make a great point that these rugs are designed to resist stains, fading and mildew so they are perfect for indoor use where spill-prone kids play and eat. Color and design options of outdoor rugs have increased with their popularity. After all, they are typically softer under foot than the usual sisal rug and you can't beat the cleaning instructions: hose down and dry in the sun!

Some of our "go-to" favs that offer this choice are Ballard Designs and Crate & Barrel. Browse their classic furniture frames and make note of the yardage required to cover it's dimensions, then visit your local fabric by the yard retailer to purchase a pattern that could be your inspiration to the entire space. After shipping the fabric using the manufacturer's instructions all you need to do is await delivery of your piece and look forward to a creative and custom nursery or bedroom.

The classic and trusted publication, Ladies Home Journal, has launched a shopping website with featured products in categories such as: Home, Travel and Pets. The customer reviews are a great resource and they even have a gift registry function. We nearly flipped over this Empire Rocker by Lawson Fenning for Nursery Works while browsing the wonderfully edited selection under Kids & Baby. It has a lot of look for the price point and would make a comfy, cozy addition to any nursery without skimping on style for design-savvy parents.

One day while browsing one of our favorite interior stores, we spotted these bright & catchy ceramic lamps that were begging to be included in a room for a hip youngster. Later, when in front of a computer, we looked up information on the manufacturer we have long admired but never fully researched. Mitchell Gold + Bob Williams are not only interested in improving your home life by surrounding you with beautiful furnishings; they are carrying out programs to improve the life of their employees and their families. Their impressive production facility in the U.S. features a health-conscious café, employee gym, and its own on-site "education based" daycare center for its over 700+ employees (the first one of its kind in the residential furniture industry). A friend of bundle reminded us of a great American Modern artist with tons of tot appeal. Charley Harper's illustrations have homespun and natural themes that are paired with vivid colors perfect for captivating little ones. We're back from a beautiful holiday and can't wait to share some of the unique influences we picked up along the way! Fresh from experiencing new people and far away places, we were thrilled to be greeted with a lovely announcement from ducduc, a children's furniture manufacturer that we have admired for many years. We are beginning our next custom design project and for inspiration we reached to our stack of glossies - fashion magazines & catalogs! Trends & palettes for interiors are almost always influenced by the fashion world. We've had our eye on the adorable designs JCrew is putting out for their crewcuts line for children. This picture got our creative juices flowing and will be a perfect starting point for a sophisticated little girl's nursery with fresh colors & exotic accents such as a peek of an animal skin and a graphic Moroccan print.

Beanbag chairs have long been a favorite of children (& bachelors)! We recently went through our "archive" for a peek at things that have inspired us over the years. An archive can be the simplest stack of magazine tears showing rooms, colors or items that made you take a second look or an entire library of stimulating books and photos. Having these ideas at your finger tips can be an unexpected moment of clarity while working on any project in your home.

This unconventional mural was part of an advertisement from many years ago. We loved how a simple painting could become multi-dimensional with the addition of a textile bow. Taken one step further, the fabric statement piece can be made from a loved one's garment or household linen giving your child's room a significant homespun element. Be inspired by everything you see & everyone in your life!

We are really enjoying paging our way through the adorable new book giggle Guide to Baby Gear by Ali Wing. Ali, who founded giggle (the national chain of healthy lifestyle baby boutiques), has provided cheerful information and descriptions of tools every new parent needs to become a fully equipped family on the go (aka no more purchasing items millions of moms buy and never use)! There are no product placements throughout the entire book and she even describes things we all need to know, but no one tells us! Helpful lists include: what to pack in your diaper bag, the best advances in technology for new parents and no-fuss tips for traveling with baby. Happy reading!
